Colin was born 6 weeks premature, which was the only time he was early for anything. He was always late, but was the life of the party when he got there. He was charismatic and seemed to know everyone, no matter where he went. Growing up at Lake Park Pool, he developed a love of swimming, tennis, and volleyball. It was hard to find a sport he didn’t enjoy, particularly golf and snowboarding. He loved being at any gym, working out and socializing, and anytime he could be on a boat.
Colin graduated from Sanderson High School in 1996 where he played football, basketball, and ran track. He attended Cape Fear Community College and lived in Wilmington, NC from 1998-2012, working for Taylor Construction. He returned to Raleigh where he lived until his death.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Iris and John Pritchard, sister Emily Gibson Allen, nephews Blake and Ridge Allen, stepsister Meredyth Bass (Woody), niece and nephew, Meghan and Adam Bass, half sister Kassy Lynn Edwards, and partner Kelly Erickson. He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Howard Gibson, and infant daughter Hampton Taylor Gibson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 2:00pm, with visitation preceding at 1:00, Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
