After Colin moved to the United States from England he met Jeane Bradford and discovered love at first sight. They married 11 months after meeting and their relationship thrived for 48 years. They started their lives together in San Francisco and then moved to Greenwich, Connecticut where their sons were born and they began their “Fish N Chips” business. They went on to start a painting business in 1973 with just Jeane and Colin. Their business grew from one painter to later as many as 35 and becoming a large family business in Raleigh, Colin Fairweather & Sons. This business grew to be one of a tight unit of employees known to one another as family.
Colin enjoyed gardening and landscaping and playing tennis. He remained playing tennis twice a week until his illness prevented him from doing so. Colin, known to many as the strong fatherly figure and the boss of the business, was blessed with 4 granddaughters who created a whole new look on life for him. Colin will be remembered by the girls for his favorite song he would sing to them, “Yummy, Yummy, I’ve got love in my Tummy” to dress up time, storytelling, tea parties together and the endless love he had for them, and they for him. He will always be remembered for his dedication as a husband, a father and a grandfather.
Colin was predeceased by his brothers: Donald and Ronald Fairweather and his sister Joyce Fairweather.
He is survived by his wife Jeane Fairweather, his sons: Christopher L. Fairweather and his wife Kathy, Robert I. Fairweather and Keith Fairweather, and wife Carrie; grandchildren: Onica Marie, Siera Valeria, Brittney and Courtney, and one great grandchild Gabriela. Colin will also be missed by his extended family at Colin Fairweather & Sons and also many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Monday, March 28, 2016 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 300 Saint Mary’s St. Raleigh, NC 27605 with Dr. David Vess officiating. Interment will follow at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh.
