Catherine "Cathy" Ann (Daniels) Kennison

Cathy grew up in Raleigh, NC where she graduated from Sanderson High School. She continued her education at Western Carolina University (B.S) and UNC Greensboro (Masters). She went on to spend her career in education, first as an Elementary school teacher in Asheville, NC and retiring from the Wake County Public School System as a guidance counselor at Fuquay Varina Middle School. She also enjoyed her years of working part-time at the PNC Arena ticket office.

Cathy was a lifelong Girl Scout. For years she taught sailing at Camp Graham in Henderson, NC and as Camp Director at Camp Mary Atkinson Selma, NC. She was an advisor and instructor for the Sailing Pines High Adventures.

She was an avid golfer, loved camping, traveling, sailing, and spending time with family, friends.

In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her nephew Derek Proctor.

Cathy is survived by her sisters, Becky Kennison of Raleigh, Jody Grayson and husband Rick, of Raleigh, and Casey Missert and husband Bob, of Atlanta, Ga. She is also survived by her nieces Erin Rice (Jason) and Christie Hardin (Kevin) and nephews David Gillespie, Alexander Missert, Nicholas Missert and extended family Linda Jackson. She will be missed by her two dogs Jake and Oscar.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's St., Raleigh, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Christ Church, 120 E. Edenton St., Raleigh. A reception will follow in Parish Hall.
