Carolyn Carlisle Eskridge went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Carolyn was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 18, 1955 to Beeler and Eleanor Ryan Eskridge. Her family moved to Raleigh in 1956 and she grew up surrounded by many loving friends.
Carolyn graduated from St. Mary’s School, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Phi Beta Kappa) and received her MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Her career was in finance and banking. She worked for Alex Brown in Washington, DC, First Union Corporation in several cities, including Charlotte, Guaranty Bank in Dallas, Texas and Fannie Mae.
Carolyn loved the outdoors and going to her home in the mountains of North Carolina. While in college, she attended the North Carolina Outward Bound School and worked as a park ranger at Arches National Park in Utah. She loved to travel and went on many wonderful trips with her family and her beloved group of friends, the “Hulas”.
When she returned to Raleigh, she was given the opportunity to serve on the board of the Foundation of Hope, which she enjoyed very much. She also adopted her dog Arlie, who was the apple of her eye.
Carolyn loved Jesus and studying the Bible. She was blessed to do this with her Working Women of the Word group at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, where she was an active member.
Carolyn is survived by her sister Alyce Eskridge Mullen, her brother-in-law Spears Mullen, niece Catharine Mullen Palmer and husband Scott Palmer, her nephew Peter Mullen of Charleston, SC, her great nephew Miles Palmer, great niece Elle Palmer and, of course, Arlie.
