Carol Jean Butor Lancaster, 63 passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012. She was born June 4, 1948 in Hopewell, Virginia. Carol lived each day of her life to the fullest. She loved to paint, she loved a good hockey game and most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of Bayleaf Baptist Church and had exhibited her artwork with the Visual Arts Exchange of Raleigh. She fought to the very end and we will always remember her “never give up” attitude! She is an inspiration to us all and we will keep her spirit alive with us forever.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph John Butor and brother-in-law, Russell W. Pearce.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, L. Mitchell Lancaster; mother, Hazel Kathleen Butor of Virginia; sister, Hazel Butor Pearce of Virginia; two children, Lisa (Jeff) Schons of Raleigh and Larry (April) Lancaster of Kernersville; four wonderful grandchildren, Parker and Alexis Schons of Raleigh and Madison and Mitchell Lancaster of Kernersville.
Family will receive friends Thursday, May 24 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home,1701 East Millbrook Rd, Raleigh. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 25 at 11:00am at Bayleaf Baptist Church, 12200 Bayleaf Church Rd., Raleigh. Burial immediately following in the church cemetery.
