Carlisle Northington Benton passed away and went to be with our heavenly father on September 18th 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family at bedside in the home she loved so dearly. Carlisle was born in Richmond, Virginia to the late Carl and Thelma Northington of South Hill Virginia.
Carlisle met her beloved husband Tommy E. Benton Jr. at the Raleigh-Durham airport while making eye contact at each other at the terminal. Tommy was taking his sister, Cille Griffith to the airport and commented “I’m not picking you up here unless you get (Carlisle’s name and number). This was true love at first sight. From there it was a true match as they strengthened their relationship while attending, Tommy at N.C. State University and Carlisle at St. Mary’s College.
Carlisle and Tommy were blessed by being married for 55 years as well as having three lovely children, Donna Benton, Kim Holland and her husband, Andrew, and Thomas Benton III, and his wife, Stephenie, all of Raleigh N.C. She is also survived by numerous relatives in South Hill, Virginia.
Her love for Christ and family lead her aspirations to dedicate her life to various volunteer organizations, church activities and raising her children through the years with a well-balanced life along with a Christian atmosphere in the home.
Her celebration of life will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel at 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh N.C., Sunday, September, 23rd at 2:30 pm. Visitation will immediately follow the celebration of life. Arrangements are by Mitchel Funeral Home 7209 Glenwood Ave Raleigh N.C. 27612.
