Bruce Kendell Chester Sr.

Bruce attended Western Carolina University, as well as Lenoir-Rhyne College. He served in the US Army during WW II, and earned the rank of Sergeant. He was privileged to be on the Flight of Honor to Washington, DC in Nov. 2010. Bruce was a Broyhill factory representative for over 43 years. He attended Ridge Road Baptist Church and was active with the Men’s Seekers Class. Bruce enjoyed sports, but his greatest passion was flying his Piper J3 Cub. He enjoyed the YMCA and playing softball with his friends from Crowley’s. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his dear wife, Margaret “Cis” Chester; sons, Rev. Ken Chester and wife Carolyn, and Doug Chester and fiancée Lynne Daniel. He will be deeply missed by his 2 grandsons, Steve and Britt, and his sister Mildred Huntley. He was predeceased by his parents and 6 siblings.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday March 14, at the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh NC 27612. Private inurnment at Raleigh Memorial Park.
