Bimla Devi, age 88, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at her residence in Morrisville, NC. Mrs. Devi was the widow of the late Faquir Chand. She was born in Lahore, Pakistan, during the time of the partition and later relocated to Punjab, India.
She was the daughter of the late Gurdial Singh Kainth and the late Ratandaye Devi. Mrs. Devi was a homemaker with a love for her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face. She was a compassionate grandmother that cherished her family and always prioritized everyone before herself. Ms. Devi was a fond and self-caring person. She was a positive being, with firm faith in God and always had a calm, yet strong and spiritual personality. Ms. Devi was remembered fondly for her cure to every ailment, "Vicks Lagao."
Mrs. Devi is survived by three sons, Raj Kumar Karir of New Jersey (Balbir Kaur), Bidhi Chand Karir (Renu Bala) and Anil Kareer (Jugesh Rani) of Morrisville; two daughters, Neelam Rani (Vijay Teji) and Chitra Rani (Mohinder Singh Kamboz) from Ludhiana, Punjab, India. Mrs. Devi is also survived by four sisters: Satya Guru, Indra Verma and Rekha Tony of India, and Santosh Buttoo of Huddersfield, UK; her grandchildren, Maninder Kumar and Surinder Kumar of India, Jagdeep Kumar (Rajni Rani) of Holly Springs, NC, Pawan Karir (Priya Karir) and Naveen Karir (Kanchan Karir) of Burlington, NJ. Arun Karir (Shavinder Kaur) and Gorav Karir (Renu Karir) of Morrisville, NC. Nichole McDowell (Josh Kurtz) of Seattle, Washington, Girdhar Kareer and Shivani Kareer of Morrisville, NC. Chandar Mohan Teji and Anita Rani of Ludhiana, Punjab, India, Rajinder Kumar Teji of England. She was further survived by her granddaughters Rimpal, Nita “Neetu”, Neeru and Lalti, Neha and her twelve great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Devi was predeceased by her husband and parents as well as her siblings: three brothers, Mahinder, Narinder and Ashok Kainth of India, and two sisters, Kiran Bedi of India and Sheela Farmay of Morrisville, NC. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Tripta Devi, granddaughter-in-law, Renu of Ludhiana, Punjab, India.
Services will be held Friday, March 27, 2020 at 10:30 am at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh, NC 27605. Services will be streamed live through the Facebook page of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Saint Mary's St. location.
