Billy Eugene Kent, Jr., 59, passed away on August 27, 2020 at his home following a period of declining health. Born on January 29, 1961 in Raleigh; he was the only child of the late Billy Eugene Kent, Sr. and Marguerite James Kent.
He graduated from William G Enloe High. He was a hard working mechanic/parts man for many companies, including Ford, CarMax and Bobby Murray Chevrolet. Before his retirement, he worked alongside a great friend as a mobile, large engine mechanic. He was a selfless, caring father and Papa and certainly a devoted son. Billy had many hobbies, especially if it involved using his hands. He was always working on a project and his ideas were endless. He dreamed of one day, moving to Alaska and
going off the grid, living off the land and enjoying the simpler way of life.
He is survived by his daughter: Heather Heath and husband Adam Heath, stationed at Ft. Polk Army Base in Louisiana; by his grandchildren: Korey and Jameson; and other extended family, including John, Phillip, Ronnie and Jesse James, Julie Johnson and Joyce Kent.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 4th at 2 pm in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home. The service will be live streamed on the Facebook page of Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park for those unable to attend in person.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Franklin County.
