Betsy Williamson Dodson, 81, died peacefully on Thursday July 19, in Reno, NV. Betsy was born March 23, 1931 to Arthur and Leah Williamson in Durham, N.C. Betsy grew up in Durham with her sister Hazel and attended Durham High School and Kennedy Business College. After graduation she married Albert Carter Dodson on April 19, 1952. Betsy and Carter had one daughter, Mary Louisa on April 6, 1955 and lived in Raleigh, N.C.
Betsy worked at the Air Pollution Training Institute U.S EPA.
After Carter's death in 1980 and her retirement from the EPA, Betsy moved to Reno, NV to live closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Betsy enjoyed reading, following the Tar Heels and gambling in her free time.
Betsy is survived by her daughter Mary Dodson Herzik (Reno, NV) and four grandchildren: Kyle Herzik (Reno, NV), Kevin Herzik (Washington, D.C.), Lindsey Herzik (San Diego, CA), and Leigh Herzik (Reno, NV). Additionally she is survived by her sister Hazel Moses from Raleigh and nieces Judy Babb and Jan Moses.
A gathering for friends and family is planned for Friday July 27 at 11 a.m at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road.
