Mrs. Bernice Stephenson Bullard

Bernice was one of the last true “Southern Ladies”, a kind and generous woman who loved to read, and most of all, spend time with her family. She was a Legislative Assistant at the North Carolina General Assembly for over 30 years until her retirement in 2009. Bernice was a founding member of Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church and a member of the Pineview Garden Club. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by everyone blessed to have known her.

Bernice is preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Joseph Hays Bullard, Sr.; grandson, William Zachary Bullard; siblings, Genevieve Stephenson, Frances Witham, D.C. Spivey, Joe Spivey, Bob Spivey and Billy Spivey.

Bernice is survived by her son, Joseph Hays Bullard, Jr. and his wife, Delinda King Bullard; daughter, Celeste Bullard Turner and her husband, E. Lee Turner, Jr.; grandchildren, Joseph Hays Bullard, III, Chelsea Celeste Turner, Jonathan Christopher Bullard, Olivia Lee Turner and Connor Stephenson Bullard; siblings, Princess Hastings, Dorothy Stephenson Kinlaw, Ben Spivey, Nell Spivey Juarez and Nancy Long and numerous other loving family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4921 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh, NC. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
