Anthony West, age 54, of Raleigh, N.C. died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family after a brave, four year battle against cancer. He was born in Washington, NC to Sue H. West and the late C. T. West. He was an active member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church and was a faithful member of the JOY Class.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cathy; daughters Mary Catherine and Rebecca of the home. He is also survived by his sisters Karen West of Raleigh; Jenny Ramsey and her husband, Lowell of Kansas, and Melanie Kraft and her husband, Jim of Morehead City, NC, nieces and nephews, as well as his mother in law, Mary Sue Hanford, also of the home. Anthony graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1980 and Wake Technical College in 1986. He was employed by NCDOT as a Project Design Engineer with the Roadway Design Unit for 25 years. Anthony loved the outdoors whether it was camping, splitting wood, or listening to the dogs run. Going to the beach, either Nags Head or Emerald Isle, was the perfect vacation for him. He especially loved hunting and flounder giggin’, but his family always came first.
The family would like to thank the UNC Cancer Hospital and Hospice for their dedication and service during his battle with cancer.
