Tony graduated from the University of Dayton with a B.S. in Accounting, and went on the receive a Masters Degree in Management Systems from Iona College. He proudly served as a Captain in the US Army, with duty assignments in Germany and Vietnam. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation medals.
Tony began his 34 year career with IBM as an accountant in 1969. He went on to hold staff management assignments in New York, Paris, Raleigh, NC and Charlotte, NC. During his time with IBM, he also held positions as a Federal Systems Controller, Chief Accountant for the Federal Systems Division and the Director of Accounting for the Rolm Company, a joint venture between IBM and Siemens.
During his last assignment at IBM, Tony was responsible for overseeing IBM's global strategy for implementation and installation of an integrated payroll system. While he was working at IBM, the company was awarded many honors for their excellence in payroll engineering.
Tony joined Fidelity in 2003 as Senior Vice President and part of the executive team that supported the Fidelity Investments Global Human Resources that benefited outsourcing lines of business.
Tony was an avid golfer who belonged to the Carolina's Golf Association and the USGA. He was a member of the USO and volunteered at many events such as the Rex Open. He was also a member of Vietnam Veterans of America and supported the Wounded Warrior Project and The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
Tony is survived by his wife, Maria Angelo; four children, Lisa Celedonia, and her husband, Mark, Louis Angelo, and his wife, Jenna, Christopher Angelo, and his wife Susan, and John Angelo, and his wife, Rachel; four grandchildren, Michael Celedonia, Marisa Celedonia, Joseph Angelo, and Lia Angelo; and a sister, Christine Angelo Witton, and her husband, Alan. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Helen Angelo.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014, from 6:00-8:00pm, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC. Funeral service will be held at Saint Raphael Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC, on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 1:00pm, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
