Anne Bunn Wilson, 82, passed away Monday morning February 8, 2016 in Raleigh. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Olin Wilson, Sr., and two sons, Olin Wilson, Jr. and Edward Wilson, all of Raleigh. She also leaves daughter-in-law Julie Wilson and grandchildren Harris and Emily Wilson. A woman of remarkable vitality, we are greatly saddened that she could not join us for many more years, but rejoice that her loving Creator has taken her home.
Anne was the third child of George Hubert Bunn and Lola Finch Bunn of Bailey, NC, and lived with two sisters and three brothers--Sharon, Royce, Billy, Sue, and Tony. They were a farm family with deep roots in southern Nash County. Her older sister, Sharon High of Charlotte, NC, remains the sole survivor of this family.
She met her husband Olin in Raleigh, after which he spent his career in management with Burlington Industries, leading them to several locations. With their children, they spent many years in Greensboro, NC, Rocky Mount, NC, and other towns in the region. In 1980, their final move returned them to Raleigh.
Anne was a 1978 graduate of NC Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, and enjoyed a career that was highlighted by over 20 years as a Legislative Assistant for several members of the NC General Assembly. Her dedication to the work of the Legislature is remembered by many colleagues and elected officials.
At home, Anne was a multi-talented woman whose creativity and energy blessed her husband, children, and grandchildren. She never lost her love for learning, a trait that manifested itself in all aspects of her life. She was a life-long Methodist and belonged to several congregations among the various places that her family lived.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at 1 pm at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, 2209 Fairview Rd., Raleigh. A visitation will precede the service from 12-1 pm at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Transitions LifeCare (formerly Hospice of Wake County) 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
