She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.
Born and raised in Raeford, NC, Anne was the daughter of Paul and Margaret Dickson. She attended the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, focusing on English language and literature. She met the love of her life, Louis, in Charlotte, before starting their family in Greensboro. Anne and Louis raised their three boys, Hal, Dickson and Paul in Fayetteville, NC. Anne received a bachelor’s degree from Fayetteville State University, where she later served on the Board of Trustees. Following in her father and brother’s footsteps, she was involved in many civic and community activities, including serving two terms on the Fayetteville City Council. Anne and Louis retired in Chapel Hill before moving to Raleigh.
Anne was an avid reader and loved to needlepoint, cook, and ride her beloved horse, Hannah. She enjoyed lively political debates and sunsets at her beach house at Topsail Beach. Her favorite companions over the years were her yellow labs, Guinevere and Bella, and her Siamese cats, Yin and Jinn. She had an insatiable desire to learn about other cultures by traveling the world, and worked as a flight attendant and travel agent. Her greatest passion was her family whom she loved with all her heart and soul.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband Louis H. Fogleman, Jr., her parents, her brother Paul III (Pete), her sister Nancy and her close cousin John. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, including her sons Louis Henry Fogleman, III (Carter) of Hampstead NC, Ross Dickson Fogleman (Elizabeth) of Dallas, TX, and Paul McEachern Fogleman (Elizabeth) of Raleigh NC; her grandchildren, Eliza, Drew, Charlotte, and George; her brother, Robert Arthur Dickson (Victoria); her nieces, Margaret Dickson (Eric Roehrig) and Susan Dickson (Jamie DeGraw); her cousin Alvis Barnes Dickson, Jr. (Constance); and great-nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Her family is thankful for the wonderful caregivers at the Cypress of Raleigh, where she lived for the last several years. Anne struggled with her memory, but we know she cherished every hug and kiss that she received from her visitors there.
Anne will be laid to rest in the Dickson family plot in Raeford, NC during a private graveside burial.
