Ann grew up in Greensboro, Raleigh and Danville, Virginia. She graduated from George Washington High School in Danville, Va. She received her bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin College in Stanton, Va. and a teaching certificate from NC Central in Durham, NC.
In work, she was devoted to helping children at various schools with the Wake County School system where she served as a teacher, media specialist and librarian for 20 years.
Her passions in life were her faith and friends, children, dogs, living in the mountains, her membership in the Red Hat Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was highly involved at Tabernacle Baptist Church as a member, deacon, and served in many committees and groups.
Ann Miller is preceded in death by her mother Rosalie Rhea Shaw, her father James Bernard Shaw and her husband of 46 years Meredith F Miller. She is survived by her sons Bernard G Miller and Whit Miller and his wife Joy Allen Miller.
The visitation will be at Brown Wynne funeral home located at 300 St Mary’s St. from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, June 10th. The services will be at Tabernacle Church located at 8304 Leesville Rd. at 11am on Saturday, June 11th. This will be followed by a small graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery located at 701 Oakwood Ave.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Crossnore School, the Smile Train and the American Alzheimer’s Association.
