Ann Lockett Herron, 81, passed away on November 19, 2013 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She and her husband of 43 years, Dan, were native Knoxvillians who moved to Raleigh to be near their children and grandchildren. She was the loving daughter of the late Frank and Nora Lockett. Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Lynn and Ronald of Knoxville and Ed, of Seattle, Washington.
Nana, as she was known, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life is celebrated by her son Gary Thompson of Charlotte,(and his wife Eileen), her daughter Jan Thompson Coleman of Raleigh (and her husband Brian), as well as her grandchildren, Brad and Mark Thompson of Raleigh, Emily Thompson of Charlotte, Katie Coleman of Wilmington, and Mary-Hanley Coleman of Raleigh, NC.
She was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church, Knoxville, TN. Ann attended Knoxville High School and the University of Tennessee, where she was president of Phi Mu Sorority. She worked for the federal government for 30 years having served with the Tennessee Valley Authority, Defense Department and retired as a financial analyst with Community Development of Housing and Urban Development. She will be missed.
Graveside services will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Knoxville, TN.
