Alton Glenn Holland, Sr., 82, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Rex Hospital. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Clarice (Lorren) Holland; his brother, Freddie Holland, and sister, Francis (Polly) Barnes; his son, Glenn Holland, and wife Fran; son, Danny Holland, and wife Jennifer; son, Andy Holland, and wife Melissa; grandchildren David, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Thomas, Amanda and Rebekah; and great-grandchildren Cooper, Mattox, Joseph, William, Josiah and Laurel. He is preceded in death by brother Thomas Holland and beloved grandson, Michael.
Born and raised in Raleigh, he worked with Southern Bell, American Biographical Institute, Keebler, Dillard’s, and owned and operated the Farmhouse Restaurant from 1970 to 1975. A faithful member of the Church of Christ, he served as an elder at both Brooks Avenue and North Raleigh congregations. He was also a founding member of the AGAPE Board of North Carolina. Alton loved his family and friends and lived a life full of service to others. Most importantly, he loved and served God through it all.
The family will receive friends following the service today. Donations may be made in his name to AGAPE of North Carolina.
