Alex Louis Regi, 86, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 after several years of battling cancer. He is survived by his wife, Winifred K. Regi, after 66 years of marriage, his daughter Patricia Regi Lovelace, her husband Spencer W. Lovelace, their children Jonathan and Carl; daughter Janice Regi Wrenn, her husband, Max E. Wrenn, their children, Rachel, Natalie, and Brandon; and daughter Sharon Regi Parks, her husband John Rouss Parks Jr. and their children Griffin and Amanda. Also, his sister Helen Regi and niece Linda Ann Federico of New Jersey and a son, Robert Alan Regi. Alex was born in Hillside, NJ, on December 24, 1922. He married his High School sweetheart in 1943, joined the military where he studied communications and served active duty in WW II, earning a bronze star as a Sergeant. He began his engineering communications career at ITT in Nutley, NJ, moving with the company to Raleigh in 1958. He retired in 1984. His hobbies included ham radio communications, fishing, handyman work, the beach, and family gatherings. A memorial service will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 1701 E. Millbrook Road in Raleigh on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 3:00. The family will receive visitors after the service at the funeral home.In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made by mail, phone or online in the memory of Alex L. Regi to The American Cancer Society for Melanoma Cancer research or to the Alzheimer’s Association for research.
