A. Jeff Kilpatrick, Jr., 68, of Durham died Saturday, July 16, 2011. Jeff was born in Kinston, NC, the son of the late A. Jeff Kilpatrick, Sr., and Margaret Hardison Kilpatrick. He graduated from Granger High School in Kinston in 1960, and attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson. Jeff began his career in the trucking industry while in college and worked with several companies over the years. In 1995, Jeff retired from Yellow Freight Systems after 23 of service. A life-long disciple, Jeff was an active member of Hillyer Memorial Christian Church in Raleigh for almost 30 years. While at Hillyer he served in many positions on various committees, doing service work, and singing with the Chancel Choir.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Donna Poage Kilpatrick of Durham; three children, Mark Poage, Lori Jackson and her husband Chris, and Keith Poage and his wife Chris; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by an uncle, Keith Kilpatrick of New Bern.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 22 at 11am at Hillyer Memorial Christian Church. Family visitation will follow the service in the church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private.
