Hazel Monroe Wood Smith

DATELINE: Red Springs Mrs. Hazel Monroe Wood Smith, 95, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at Britthaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte. Mrs. Smith was born in Hoke County on December 20, 1916 to the late T.G. Wood and Flora Monroe Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Smith; her daughter, Brenda Kool; a brother, James G. Wood; and a sister Lela W. McInnis. Mrs. Smith was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Smith Shook (Joe); two granddaughters, Kimberly Bass (Chris) and Jana Shook; two great-granddaughters, Kadence Bass, Mackenzie Bass all of Charlotte; two sisters, Louise Wood Reynolds of Rockfish, and Margaret Wood Newton of Fayetteville. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Alloway Cemetery with Mr. Todd Rentz officiating. A Visitation will be held following the graveside service from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church. In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be sent to: Trinity United Methodist Church, Mission and/or Budget Fund, 204 E. Third Ave, Red Springs, NC 28377.
