George Weldon Bishop

Weldon was born in Spartanburg, SC on December 17, 1939, to the late Willie and Cleo Bishop.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Bishop; brother, Garvin Bishop; and sisters Audrey Page, and Mary Murray.

He was a member of the Dundarrach Community Church where he served as Elder. After many years with the North Carolina Public School system, he retired as the transportation director. He loved to spend time with his family, and be outdoors farming, and on his tractor. Weldon was fun-loving and enjoyed visiting the beach with his wife in his spare time.   

He is survived by his loving wife, Jenny; daughter, Kathy Choy (Tim); grandchildren, Jennifer Phillips (Eric Maitland) and Michael Bishop; brother, Randall Bishop; sisters, Nancy Moormann, Laura Stone, and Juline Walters; and two great-grandsons, Eric and Evan Maitland.

A visitation will be held from 2-3 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024, in the Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel.

A service will follow at 3 pm with Terry Dooley, Dr. Ray Harris, and Dwight Jackson officiating. 

Burial will be held in the Raeford Cemetery.
