Lai Yee Chin

Lai Yee Chin (maiden name Mak), age 91, of Quincy, passed away on November 24, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Bing Goon Chin, devoted mother of Thomas Chin and his late wife Suky of Wellesley, MA, Geoffrey Chin and his wife Lillian of Lancaster, MA, Lisa Ching and her husband David of Wellesley, MA. Cherished sister of Cheuk Kuen Mak of Quincy, MA, the late Cheuk Yee Mak of Chestnut Hill, MA, Monica (Lai Jean) Ng Pack of Milton, MA and the late Chun Yu Mak of Quincy, MA. Loving grandmother of Nicholas Chin of Boston, MA, Meilani Ching and Christopher Ching of Wellesley, MA. Adored by sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lai Yee spent a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with her family and passed away unexpectedly that evening just before retiring for the night. She joined her beloved husband in Heaven. She was born in Toisan, China, immigrated to Massachusetts, and worked as a seamstress for many years in the Boston area.

A sweet, big-hearted, energetic, and sociable person, Lai Yee loved singing, cooking, listening to Chinese opera, playing mahjong, and even learning to play the piano as an adult. She was always open to learning new things and engaged in English learning classes when she arrived in Boston, helping her to adjust to her new environment. She made the best tasting Sui Gow Dumplings that her family and friends loved.

Lai Yee’s later years involved being cared for by kind nurses and staff at South Cove Manor, in Quincy. She was well-liked there and participated in all recreational activities.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Morning Visitation and Funeral Services at Deware Funeral Home at 576 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170 on Thursday, December 8, 2022.

Visitation hours Thursday December 8th, 2022, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Procession will depart by 12:20 pm

Burial to be held at The Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, 670 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132
