Jin Yun Zhu

Jin “Sophia” Yun Zhu, age 63, of Newton, Massachusetts passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was born in Guangzhou, China, before immigrating to Massachusetts where she put down her roots in Quincy. A selfless person, Sophia always put others before herself, especially when it came to family. While she always loved cooking and travelling, once her children were grown she discovered new hobbies such as swimming and yoga. With the internet at her fingertips, she was able to reconnect with friends from all over the world and plan trips in an instant. Though recently retired, she enjoyed a long career as a Program Manager at Advocates, Inc. where she was part of the state’s first successful group home centered around Chinese heritage. Along with that, she was a Marketing Director at Transamerica, making lifelong friends from both careers. She is survived by her husband, Rong Chang Zhu, and three children: Tinny Zhu, Tina Zhu, and Tinson Zhu.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to services held at Deware Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 11th, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12th, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A procession to Newton Cemetery will follow.
