CRESWELL, Janice Lee (Marr), 82, a former resident of Quincy, MA, passed away quietly Wednesday, August 4, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Creswell. Devoted mother to Holly A. Creswell of Quincy. Mrs. Creswell is also survived by a sister, Judith E. (Marr) Riley, of Manchester, CT, two sisters-in law of Maine, several nieces, nephews and good friends.
Born in Boston, she had lived in Quincy most of her life. She was a member of the Wollaston Congregational Church and in her youth, a member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls.
A graduate of North Quincy High School Class of 1945, during WWII, she assisted the war effort at home as an airplane spotter atop Forbes Hill. She spent her early working career as a Window Display Designer for the Jordan Marsh Company of Boston and participated as a model in many of the runway shows presenting the fashions of the late 40’s and 50’s. She also held several part-time positions in later years, but spent most of her time catering to her family.
Mrs. Creswell was an avid animal lover and provided loving homes to many pets over the years. She has two grandcats, Dale and Tippy and was a foster mom to a wonderful cat named Squiggy. A woman of many creative talents, she loved to sew, knit, crochet, cook, bake and relished her time listening to all sorts of music but possessed an unending passion for the instrumental talents of the Jazz age.
A post cremation Memorial Service will be held at the Deware Funeral Home at 576 Hancock Street, Quincy, on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 12:00 PM. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 am to Noon prior to the service.
