Rosa was an exceptional woman. She was loved not only by her family, but by anyone who met her. Rosa was born in Valparaiso, Chile on July 30,1949. Her parents were Adriana and Hugo. She had 3 older siblings, Gladys, Hugo and Jorge and 2 younger ones, Teresa and Enrique. As a middle child she often saw her older siblings as parents and her younger ones as her children. She as always very maternal and this quality made her so loved by all her nephews and nieces and so many people that she had touch theirs hearts. Rosa became a seamstress at a very early age. She made the wedding dress she wore on her wedding day, she made her daughters beautiful dresses and you could see the love in them.
As a young lady she was timid unless she was surrounded by her family where they all sang, laugh and enjoyed family life. Her family was big and loved gatherings. Growing up we remembered how she enjoyed these reunions, family was always a priority in her life.
In 1972, Rosa's life changed forever when she she met Manuel who, after only 6 months, became her husband and the love of her life. We often asked mom if she was crazy in marrying so fast and she always said that they were so in love that time was just a number. Out of this union they had 2 daughters, Jennifer born in 1975 and Marjorie in 1979. For Rosa and Manuel their faith was very important in their lives which they instilled into their daughters too.
Rosa became an extraordinary mother and wife. Shewas tough when she needed to be but loving when it was necessary. She loved her daughters immensely. She took care of them. In order for them to provided better for her children, she left her beloved country, leaving behind her family and friends. Even though they thought that they didn't need their mom, she was the pillar of her family. In 1995 she moved to N.Y. Like any immigrant, life was very hard; new language, new culture but we had the support and love of our dad's family.
Life will starting to get better and we were struck by horrible news , my dad was diagnosed with cancer. He fought for a year, but he lost this battle and he died at 49 years old.
This was the first time our hearts really broke, but like always my mom picked up the pieces and held this family together with love for her daughter and forgetting she was a wife, for her being a parent it was all it mattered. She never remarried . She dedicated her life to her family. After a few years both of her daughters met the love of their lives and Rosa didn't lose them she gained two sons.
When her first granddaughter was born this changed all our lives especially hers. She help to take care of her. She spoiled her like a typical grandma and love her for both of them (grandpa and grandma). Sammy loves her Bibi, that's how she called her. A few years later her other granddaughter Kayla was born and Rosa was so happy, her little baby had a baby. life was starting to look better, she retired and had so many plans, since her older daughter was moving to Florida , she was going to be a "snowbird". But she was hit again, after a few month of being retired and one month of her daughter moving to Florida, she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (cancer) stage. She tried and she fought a good fight, but the pain was bigger than her and her fragile body could not take it anymore, so she decided it was God going to be her doctor and live by his plan.
She beat the odds on her prognosis and she lived with this horrible disease for over years. After so much suffering and pain , at last she was free of her pain and went to be in God's hands and finally to get reunited with the love of her life, our daddy Manuel and to be our personal guardian angel.
She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and an extraordinary human being and we know that she is resting peacefully in the God's arms.
