He was raised in New York City and educated in the parochial school system: Saint Augustine Elementary School and Cardinal Hayes High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served 6 years. He was an Aircraft Engine Mechanic. Upon being honorably discharged, he shortly thereafter joined the New York City Police Department. Milton was a devout Catholic and regularly attended church. He was a member of Christ the King R.C. Church. He was an avid music lover and one of his favorite genres was "Doo Wop". He was also a loyal sports fan and faithfully watched his favorite team The New York Giants.
Although Milton was a private, strong and independent individual, he especially loved to spend time with his family. He attended many family gatherings, reunions, birthday celebrations, graduations, recitals, etc. He was especially known for never forgetting a special event, and always had a card ready for any occasion.
Milton's final days were spent at Calvary Hospital where he was surrounded and comforted by prayerful family members and friends, especially his daughters, Lisa Shirelle Noble, Nina Yvette Cochran and Vikkitti Andrea Garner, as well as his nieces, Tracey Jackson and Regina Jackson.
He was predeceased in death by Gladys and Edward Spriggs and five siblings: Louis, Sayeed Abdul-Rashid and Hasan I. Abdul-Hasib, sisters Rosetta Spriggs, Denise Chapman and Anna Jackson. He is survived by three siblings: Mary Abdullah, Carol Washington and Dennis Spriggs; daughters: Lisa, Nina and Vikkitti, grandchildren, Gabrielle, Tia, Beatrice, Govan and Tyrone; great-grandchildren: Alia Rae, Zyanda, Jared, Navog, Zjatia, Santana, Samarra, Isabella, Nevaeh, Micah and Avrey; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
