Meadowbrook Care Center in Freeport. Joe was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Park Slope.
He married the love of his life, Mary, and moved to New Hyde Park to raise his family.
He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines and served in the Korean War.
Joe was a dedicated firefighter for 20 years in the FDNY. In his later years, he worked diligently at St.
John’s University for nearly 20 years.
Joe enjoyed watching classic movies, listening to the Golden Oldies, Irish ballads, and spending time
up in Lake George. He loved cheering on the horse races and spending time with his family. Joe
and Mary spent many evenings out at dances with friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary, his parents Anna and Jack Guarino; brothers Tony,
Willie, Ralphie, and sister Nettie Perrello. Joe is survived by his sons, Kevin and his wife, Rita, of
Long Beach, Thomas and his wife, Stephanie, of Seaford; his four grandchildren Ryan, Ian, Vincent,
and Kiera Guarino; brother Jack, sister-in-law Eileen Grillo, brother-in-law Conrad Augustin and
many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Meadowbrook Care Center for the great care
and affection shown to Joe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the City of Long Beach Fire Department.

Notre Dame Church, 45 Mayfair Road, New Hyde Park , NY 11040.
Final Resting Place:
Interment will follow at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Rd, Westbury, NY 11590
