Dear Erik and Evelyn. 

When I received news that Uncle John has passed on to the Lord, much memories arose in my being, especially in 2004 to 2006 period when I spend time at your place.  Although we did not spend much time previously with you all but by God's arrangement, that few years I had the chance.  I will not forget that time plus multiple times, coming even without informing earlier. He was so welcoming. I can never forget the first time, when he brought me to the buffet lunch. I am his nephew but he treated me like a new one, with much care and love;  he was so Jesusly human. Unconsciously he was shepherding me, which I needed much then. He is an uncle that I can speak with about anything. He always have an ear to listen. I only regret I did not take enough time to hear from him also.  I had also fond memories of going with him to Pennsylvania to visit the CLC bookstore and also the tabernacle replica.  I am sure he will be rewarded for that for all that care and concern.

Although I am really sad not able to see him again before my middle age training graduation, I am still glad to have seen him in Feb when he was still clear.  He prayed for me and also for my family.  I am grateful for that. May the Lord of comfort be with you all at this hour. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Dear Evelyn:
I once had lunch with your son, father, and my cousin Esther at a restaurant in Flushing . Do you remember? Around September 2022, I visited your father before I went to Hong Kong. In the past, my aunt and my father came to the United States, they would definitely go to see your grandparents, aunt and father. Unexpectedly,  I will take my father to the United States at the end of next month, and there will be no chance to meet again.

Psalm 116:15
 “Precious in the sight of Jehovah Is the death of His faithful ones.”

40 years ago when brother John’s beloved wife, Shereen, our dear sister passed away, he asked me what the above verse meant. Outside the Queens Jamaica meeting hall, he asked, “precious in the sight of Jehovah is the death of His faithful ones”,  what it meant?

I didn’t know.  40 years later. Brother John joined Sherene.   The word begins to shed its light as I reviewing Brother John’s life.  To many,  he seemed passive, and lay back.  I don’t remember ever seeing him standing up in the meeting to utter something, but he actually acknowledges that no one is faithful but Christ more than many of us.   He doesn’t trust himself.  He has an intimate, personal relationship with the God who hides Himself.  He loves God’s Word which also drew Sherine’s attraction to have married him.  Erik had exercised much effort, and all his resources to gain his bride, like us most of the time do to gain what we are after, but not his dad John.  Once John said, why I have to engage much for my son’s marriage when the Spirit, the old servant is arranging all on my behalf?  However, he must have prayed much.   It shows that he does not nullify the Grace of God, rather,  he enjoyed the grace of God, thus to have lived a crucified life, in the Person of wonderful Jesus Christ.  He put himself aside and allowed that faithful One to dispense into him as grace and to accompany him to walk through the human living, death, resurrection… just as His beloved Lord did.   He became a precious duplication of the Lord Himself in a portion measured by the Lord whom he loved much
That is “Precious in the sight of Jehovah Is the death of His faithful ones” !

Praise the Lord for His riches being all inclusive and all extensive to His Body.   From His  faithful members we see His manifestation.  We see that in His renewing, transforming and conforming work in us.  Oh, what a hope of glory is His work in us!

My family and I are so sorry to hear about John's passing. Please accept our sincerest condolences. He was one of the kindest and most generous people we've ever met. We are grateful that we got to know him, and we will miss him greatly.
