To my dear Pa  For me, I will forever be grateful that you and Patsy were another mom and dad that became so dear to me.  With my own parents living such a distance away, you filled a void so well.  Whether it was to calm the wedding planning jitters as I prepared to marry your son John or when help was needed in the early years of marriage.You were always there to support both John and I.  I remember how it felt awkward to call you and Patsy Mom and Dad in the early yearsit shouldn't have been.but you both understoodyou became Mush and Gert back then to mepet names that you had for each other which you shared with me.   I still have cards from you both signed Love, Mush and Gert.

Pa  you were there for the birth of my two boysYou and Patsy were the ones who comforted the new nervous motherI will always be so thankful for your guiding presence.and the many laughs you gave meeven at my expense sometimes.  

I loved how you always called me KatsI loved that because of the love you and Patsy shared; John was born and ultimately became my beloved husband.

Thank you again for so many years filled with laughter and love.I will miss you Mush a.k.a Paand yes, dear Dad.

I have so many great memories growing up with you.  You were only 4 years older than me and I loved flirting with all your hot friends.  I am so saddened to hear of your passing at such a young age.  I will carry many happy memories with me. Rest in peace Uncle Jimmy.

To My Pa, 

I want to thank you, for you are the one who showed me what it is like to deeply love and care for someone you taught me what true love really is. You were my first love. You were not just a grandfather but truly another father figure to me. You consistently encouraged me to chase my dreams and to never look back. You fought for me because you believed in me and saw things in me I never even saw for myself. You taught me more than anyone else, and you didn't just teach in the words you spoke but taught by example, in the way that you lived your life. You are the reason for me living my dreams. You are the reason I always moved forward and pushed myself even harder. I don't know what it will be like to never feel the touch of your soft hands, to hear your greeting Hi Princess when I walk through the door, or kiss you again, but I know saying goodbye to you, the most incredible man I have ever met in my entire life, is something that I will never fully be capable of doing. To know that you are no longer in pain and are now in a place that is more amazing than the best possible day here on Earth is the only thing that keeps me going. I will forever think of you and smile when I celebrate our June birthdays, digging into our favorite corner piece of chocolate-chocolate cake; When Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer plays at Christmas time, the song you always sang to us and started off with a 1-2-3 as kids; When Valentine's Day, my favorite holiday to celebrate with you comes around and think of how you consistently delivered a bulk supply of Ferrero Rocher's with a heartfelt card covered in X's and O's, as you did on all of my cards for as far back as I can remember. I hope you continue to push me and watch over me, as I will continue to miss you and love you for the rest of my life. You made me so much of who I am today and I couldn't be more grateful for the time I've been able to spend with you for the past 23 years. Rest peacefully my angel.

I was very lucky to have a father-in-law that always treated me as his daughter.  He was an amazing man who truly loved his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his world.  We will miss him deeply but have memories to cherish.  Pa, I love you and will always have you in my heart. Rest in peace

I am sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during these difficult times.

My dad, or as I usually referred to him when talking to my brothers and sister, YOUR father, did not have much in the way of a formal education, but he taught me the most important lessons in life. Chivalry. Loyalty. Patriotism. Integrity. He taught me how to treat my friends as well as how to deal with those who would be other. He taught me about fair play in sports, and how to get my cheap shots in unnoticed by pesky refs. Most importantly, he taught me about hard work and sacrificing for family, because family was the most important thing to him. My dad wasn't just the man who was my father, he was the man who raised me to be a man.
          Through it all,  he took care of his family , and  his family took care of him. Especially my sister Dawn, who is the glue that holds us all together. I would like to thank her and my brothers for doing so much for him over the years , and especially the last few months. I cannot express the gratitude I feel for Nicole and especially her husband Peyman for all they have done to save his life and make his last days comfortable.
        Rest easy Dad, we'll take it from here.

You were a great man with an even greater sense of humor that lives on in your children and theirs.  Dear Smith Family - You are a loving, giving and truly big-hearted bunch.  All of my love in your time of loss.  God Bless.
