Ramkalia Toolsie, affectionately known as “Dolly” began her journey on March 26th, 1933, in Islington, Berbice, Guyana, born to mother, Budhni, and father Ramsuchit. She was the cherished second child among her siblings, Ernest and Lily, both of whom preceded her in death. In 1952, she entered into marriage with her late husband, Bansi Toolsie.
Her formative years were rooted in Islington, Berbice, where she received her education at the local elementary school. Dolly found solace and strength in her unwavering devotion to God, attending Providence Presbyterian Church in Islington, Guyana. Her life’s calling led her to be a dedicated homemaker.
In June 1992, she embarked on a new chapter, migrating to the United States, where she found her home alongside her daughter, Bridget Baldeo. Though small in stature, Dolly exuded immense vibrancy and strength that left a lasting impact on those around her.
Dolly’s life embodied resilience, love, and unwavering faith. Her absence will be deeply felt but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Dolly had 9 children, 4 of whom unfortunately passed away: Paro, Indira, Paul, and Urmila. She leaves behind a legacy woven through the lives of her 5 remaining children: Kamal, Bridget, Nalini, Shamela, and Anita. Her lineage continues through her ten cherished grandchildren: Adrian, Alecia, Angelina, Ryan, Sasha, Trisha, Natasha, Carl, Anil, and Mandy, as well as her twelve great -grandchildren: Charlotte, Isabella, Brandon, Brianna, Allison, Aaron, Aiden, Arianna, Steven, Emma, Alyssa, and Anil’s daughter. She leaves behind a daughter in law, Violet, another daughter in law, Meena, and three sons-in-law: Daniel, Steve, and Ramesh. Her presence will also be missed by her niece, Janet, and nephews, Neil and Stephen.
For many years, Dolly resided with Bridget and Daniel, finding comfort and care under Bridget’s devoted guardianship. Despite grappling with Dementia, she spent her final years in the warmth of her home, where she was cared for comfortably. May she sleep in heavenly peace.
A visitation for Dolly will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at R. Stutzmann & Son, 224 39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428. A morning prayer will occur at the Funeral Home Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:00AM A committal service will follow from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at All Saints Cemetery, 855 Middle Neck Road, Great Neck, NY 11024.
