Alan D. Santiago, age 45, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022. He was a beloved husband, a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, a brother-in-law, an uncle, and a tremendous friend. Alan was a proud Filipino who was born and lived almost his entire life in various places in Queens, NY. He had a larger than life personality and amazing boisterous voice with a native Queens accent that anyone would recognize immediately. Alan was exceedingly kind, loving, giving, fiercely loyal, and could handle himself in almost any situation. He was an electrician in the Local Union No. 3 IBEW by trade, but he always had a mind for finance that he credited to his parents. Alan was an avid collector of memorabilia, was a car enthusiast, the faster the better, was a whiz with computers, building his own from scratch, enjoyed watching boxing, loved the Yankees, and enjoyed a good drink on occasion. His biggest passion in life was his love of animals of all kinds, especially reptiles, hamsters, guinea pigs, and dogs. Alan’s two cherished fur-children Butters and Chloe were his constant companions. His favorite thing to do was to jump in the car impulsively with his wife and pups and explore the tri-state area and visit friends or look for great new parks, views, and places to sit and relax. Alan loved to just sit and smell the fresh crisp air, especially in the fall. His biggest dream was always to rescue dogs, so he supported various local and national dog rescue charities. In lieu of flowers/donations, you can donate to his favorite local dog rescuer and our dear friend by clicking here: https://gofund.me/d96762c7. Or if you prefer, you can donate to your favorite local dog rescue in his name.
Alan will leave an indelible mark on the hearts of all those who knew and loved him and will never be forgotten. Alan leaves behind a wife, Melisa Lujan Santiago, a mother, Delia Diaz, a father, Artemio Santiago, a sister, Nicole Furriel, a brother-in-law, Ricardo Furriel, two nephews Liam and Oliver Kai Furriel, and his two beloved fur-babies Butters and Chloe. He also leaves behind a large extended family and friends not only here in New York, but in California, Texas, Nevada, the Philippines, and Portugal.
A visitation for Alan will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at R. Stutzmann & Son, 224 39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 92-96 220th Street, Queens Village, NY 11428.
