Brother, Robert Stockard and Joe Stockard; Sister-in-law Lori Stockard; niece Susan Stockard and Nephew Taylor Willis all of Columbia Tennessee. Niece Carolyn McCord of Culleoka, Tennessee.
“Adopted Family” includes Myrtle Kucera, the Eddie Mondoux and Tally Stone extended families in the Graham area.
And last but by far not the least, his miniature schnauzer, Sandy whom he dearly loved and spoiled.
Harris worked in the field of structural engineering for 33 years, doing construction and carpentry work for Lloyd Powell, Inc. and Donald M Drake Company. Major projects included the Nalley Valley Viaduct in Tacoma and Fremont Bridge in Portland.
He served in the US Navy in WWII from 1945 to 1950. His field was Air Sea Rescue and Underwater Demolition and he was one of the first seaman in Hiroshima after the bomb was dropped.
He was affiliated with the Tahoma Lodge of Masons, American Legion Post 171, VFW Post 91 and the Elks Lodge in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Harris was a square dance caller for over thirty years. He delighted in having the best looking lawn and flowers, putting Christmas lights on anything that didn’t move, helping others, motor homing, and generally, “stirring the pot” to keep others entertained. He enjoyed being the “life of the party” and being around people, big and small.
He will be truly missed by all who knew him!!!
