September 8, 1917-August 19, 2010
Concordia Luz Domingo Arana, loving mother, grandmother and sister, called to be with the Lord, in the presence of her family’s love, August 19. She was born September 8, 1917 to Christina Gamalinda and Perfecto Domingo in Victoria, Tarlac, Philippines. Luz, as fondly called by her relatives and friends, has been a fortress to her family. She took the responsibility of managing her family’s finances as a teenager when her mother passed away and her father Perfecto Domingo was busy working as the school superintendant teacher for the town of Tarlac, Philippines. Luz made sure that all her 7 brothers and sisters finished their educations and got their college degrees. She then, in turn, completed her college education majoring in English, Grammar and Literature as a working student. Luz was a dedicated high school teacher who mentored working students and inspired them to be successful. As a born leader, she became the president of the school teachers association and was voted unanimously by her co-teachers in spite of declining the position several times. As the head teacher of the evening class, she became an inspiration to many of her working students, who most are now college graduates in their own field. Being a single mom, she has dedicated her life to her family. Survived by an only daughter; Dr. Ladie Arana-Domondon, Luz nurtured her daughter with a firm loving hand, instilling the values of hard work, determination and the love of God. Luz dreamed of her daughter becoming a doctor. She prayed so hard from the day her daughter was born to obtain this dream. She became a rock to her daughter, weathering through the storm of life. In spite of her small finances, she made both ends meet to enable her daughter to get the best education and be successful in life. She lived a full life, realizing all her dreams, and even more, being blessed by a beautiful granddaughter, Sarah, who she raised with the same warmth and loving hand. Luz enjoyed seeing her granddaughter grow up to be another strong person just like her. Luz raised two more children and became a mother to Rey, her nephew, and Melody, her granddaughter who lives in the Philippines. Luz is survived by two sisters; Carmen and Rosario, her daughter Ladie & Son-in-law, Bert, granddaughters; Sarah and Melody, nephews; Rey (Domingo), Joey, Benjie, Moody, Nieces; Eileen, Marites, Marivic, Laureen and all her 25 grandchildren. Visitation is 9:00Am to 9:00PM, Friday, TODAY, Aug. 27, 2010 at Powers Funeral Home in Puyallup. Funeral Service will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Puyallup, Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 9:30AM and interment at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery, Federal Way, at 11:30AM.
