Robert Anthony DeRosa

Robert (Bob) Anthony DeRosa, 73, of Punta Gorda , FL, formally of Marlborough, MA, has passed away peacefully on June 8th 2024. He was born on March 6, 1951, in Everett, MA, the son of Wilfred and Mary (Lawrence) DeRosa. He married Anna Marie (Cardarelli) on September 29th, 2007. He will be truly missed by his loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Angela (Massa) DeRosa, and brother Douglas DeRosa.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anna Marie (Cardarelli) DeRosa of Punta Gorda, FL; sister Carol Viola of Maynard, MA; brother William (Bill) DeRosa of Maynard, MA; sister Cindy and her husband Gregory Hollohan of Myrtle Beach, SC; stepson Matthew Libutti of Providence, RI and many nieces, nephews and cousins from coast to coast.

Robert grew up in Maynard, MA most of his life. He graduated from Maynard High School, and took a number of engineering courses at Worcester Polytechnical Institute. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for more than 25 years at Digital Equipment Corporation and a few other startup companies before retiring from Revolabs, Sudbury, MA. He then moved to Punta Gorda, FL.

Robert was an avid Boston sports fan and loved spending time with family and friends. A connoisseur of WWII history and wealth of knowledge with (GM and Chevy) sport cars. His favorite pass time was to relax and watch his all time favorite (over and over) Bonanza and loved to entertain people at his and Anna’s Pon”DeRosa”. He also enjoyed spending time trolling canals on his boat the “Happy Ours”.

Honoring Robert’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. In Robert’s memory there will be a Celebration of Life this Saturday, June 15th, from 2 – 5 p.m. at Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association on 2001 Shreve St., Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Another Celebration of Life in his memory will be held in Maynard, Massachusetts at a later date to be determined.
