Robert was born and raised in Charlotte County. He loved where he was from so much he never had an itch to move. He lived in Ridge Harbor with his significant other Brenda. He was lucky enough that his daughters remained local, too. His daughter Melinda lives one street away and his daughter Christina lives just in Fort Myers, FL. Anyone who knew Robert knew how proud he was of his grandchildren and you could often hear him boast “I have seven grandbabies!”
He was survived by his daughters Christina and Melinda. Christina and husband Shad’s five children Davonte, Mackenzie, Alisa, Hunter, and Lilly. Melinda and her two children Kylee and Shane. One sister Betty Jean Belcher, brothers Tommy Capps and Roger Capps, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was an avid hunter and most weekends you could find him in a ground blind in the woods. On the off-season weekends, he was found behind the grill making meals out of his trophies with a beer, usually with his significant other Brenda and his many neighborhood friends. Robert was a stucco expert and proud of that fact. Robert was often regarded for his work in a dying art; therefore, he was very respected in the construction community.
Almost every Thursday night was spent at the Punta Gorda Moose Lodge where Robert was a member and often seen on the winner’s board. He had to go with his lucky shirt and many other members have exclaimed, “Aw man, Robert has that shirt on, we may as well not waste our money today!”
This Thursday October 24th, 2019 at the Punta Gorda Moose Lodge at 27590 Disston Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33982. There will be a memorial benefit after the 6 pm drawings. This is an open event, so you do not have to be a member to attend. There will be another, larger cook out celebration, at Robbie Sifrit’s barn for a more informal celebration barbeque. Please keep an eye on social media for the date and time of this event. Please contact Buzzy Hayes if you would like to help with any cooking, planning, and man power at 941-204-5328
