Peter George Bechtel, 75, formerly of Cleveland Ohio, and residing in Punta Gorda Florida for the past 23 years, passed away on October 16th after battling with a brain tumor. He passed away peacefully and with dignity.
Born in Cleveland Ohio on October 27th, 1947, the son of Peter and Hellen Bechtel (Both Deceased). Brother of Shirley Kelley and William Bechtel (Both Deceased). Son in law to Robert and Ann Sikula (Both Deceased). Survived by his loving spouse Randy Ann Bechtel. Father of Clark A Bechtel, Ted A Bechtel (Deceased) Suzanne R Hamilton, and Jacqueline Hamilton (Deceased). Grandfather of Brianna Bechtel, Jannae Lords, Nicole Bechtel, Eric Bechtel, Taitem Alford, and Piper Kujawa. Great Grandfather of five.
Peter graduated from Collinwood High School in January 1966. Graduated from Lakeland Community College in 1974. He worked at Addressograph Multigraph, S.K. Wellman, and Hawk Enterprises in Ohio. He also worked as a purchasing agent for Tropica Marine Supply in Fort Myers Florida. After retiring he worked alongside his spouse at Charlotte County Supervisor of Elections in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Peter was a past Master of the James B Ruhl Masonic Lodge, currently Acacia Lodge in Lyndhurst Ohio. He was a member of Al Koran Shriners volunteering time and energy to many charitable activities. Member of the Shriners Motor Corps riding and performing in numerous parades on motorcycles. He participated in the Great America Comeback (Charlotte County Supervisor of Elections Outreach Program) by dressing as George Washington and speaking to students and the youth of Charlotte County. Peter participated in community acting productions in his younger years, was active in softball leagues, and was one of the first people to assist his neighbors with help of any kind.
Pete met the love of his life on a Disco Floor, and they danced the journey of life together for 46 years. They took a chance and combined two families together and two became one. The journey was full of laughter, adventure, cruises, travel, and memories that will live forever.
A memorial service will be help at 2 PM on October 28th at the New Life Church (formerly the First Methodist Church) at 507 W. Marion Ave., in Punta Gorda. Family and friends are invited to attend and remember Peter and celebrate his life. Reception following at the Fellowship Hall.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Peter G Bechtel to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
