As the curtain closes and the audience goes home, the artist cleans his face for the last time. Born in Key West, Joaquin began his career with the Miami Opera Company at 18 before a two year run at Radio City Music Hall. A seminal character actor, Joaquin appeared in over 70 operatic roles and 30 musicals notably Rutledge in "1776", the Caliph in "Kismet" and Benny in "The Desert Song". His mighty tenor voice stopped the show on Broadway as Pirelli in Stephen Sondheim's award winning musical, "Sweeney Todd" – the role of his lifetime. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, "brother dear" and uncle. A master storyteller and orator, his final bow was May 9, 2023. He tours another world; regaling us in our memories. "Love you more."
