Harry F. Payton Jr.

Born September 17, 1936 in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Harry F. Payton Sr. and the late Margaret A. Payton (nee Smith).

He served in the Army National Guard from August, 1958 until April, 1964 as a Medical Corpsman when he was honorably discharged.

Harry grew up in Newark, NJ and was a graduate of Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School, Newark, NJ and Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ. He lived in Metuchen, NJ, Cedar Knolls, NJ, and Marietta, GA. Harry was a CPA for over 50 years and worked for Brockway Standard for most of his career.

When Harry retired, he moved to Punta Gorda FL. He was an avid golfer and liked to play poker with his friends and spending time dining at the area’s restaurants. He also was an active member of the Twin Isles Country Club.

Harry will be greatly missed by his son, James Payton and his wife Vivian (Mine Hill, NJ); daughter, Theresa Dulin and her husband Robert (Punta Gorda,FL); grandchildren, Elena Payton (Madison, NJ), Amy Payton (Parsippany, NJ); his sister Margaret Spiegel (Austin, TX); several nephews and nieces; and his special friend, Beverly Ward.
