Frank R. Jones, known affectionately to all as Frankie, departed this world on the 18th of August, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on February 12, 1951, in the coastal town of Punta Gorda, Florida, he was a third-generation lifelong resident who carried the spirit of the bay within him. Frankie's final moments were spent in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the natural beauty that he so deeply loved.
Frankie's life was one of boundless adventures. His easy laughter, knack for storytelling and profound honesty made him a beloved figure. He was a renowned commercial fisherman, a career that was not just his livelihood but also his passion. The open waters were his office, and he often said that he could not have asked for a better view during his working days.
His past 25 years was shared with his loving wife, Diane L. Simpson, with whom he is now reunited in eternal peace. Frankie leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in his son, Frankie Dean Jones (married to Amy), and his daughter, Jenny Jones Molnar (married to Joe). His role as a grandfather and great-grandfather was one he cherished, and he will be fondly remembered by his nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Frankie was the heart of a large and vibrant family, including his sisters, Maryann and Joyce, and brothers, Ralph and Johnny. His extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends will miss the light he brought into their lives.
Those who knew Frankie will remember him as the embodiment of three things: humor, adventure, and passion. His funny anecdotes could light up a room, and his adventurous spirit led him to explore the many gifts of life. Above all, he was passionate about his family, his friends, and the outdoors. That passion was infectious, touching all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Frankie's life was a testament to the joy of authenticity, the stamina to push through difficult times and the beauty of a life well-lived. He never missed an opportunity to bring a smile to someone's face or share heartfelt advice and comfort to someone in need. In his passing, we are reminded to cherish the moments that bring us happiness and to live with the same authenticity that Frankie did every day.
As we bid farewell to Frank R. Jones, we celebrate the remarkable man he was and the extraordinary life he led. His memory will forever be a beacon of love for all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
A memorial service and inurnment will take place on Wednesday, August 28th at 10:00am at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 27200 Jones Loop Rd, Punta Gorda, FL 33982.
