Surrounded by her family, Bonnie Lee Burnett, age 76, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 28, 2019, at her residence, in Punta Gorda, Florida. With determination and grace, she bravely fought a 9 year battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. She was born on September 13, 1942, in Hamilton, New York, to George and Marjorie Park. She attended and graduated from Sherburne Central School in Sherburne, New York. She wed the love of her life, Frederick Victor Burnett, on October 6, 1961, and together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who you could often find sitting in her favorite chair reading her Bible and praying for her loved ones. Her greatest joy and purpose in life was to raise her children and grandchildren to love and serve the Lord. She enjoyed a very special and unique relationship with each daughter and every grandchild. She was intentional, and her love had no boundaries when it came to serving her family. She built a rich legacy of love, family, and tradition that will endure forever into future generations.
Prior to moving to Florida in 1979, she was a member of Waterville Baptist Church. For many years, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She, also, enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cooking meals for her family. Ask any family member what their favorite dish was, and they will always exclaim, “her famous Shepherds Pie!”
She overcame a debilitating and traumatic vehicle accident at age 42, learning to talk, walk, and write again with fierce determination. This allowed her to enjoy and be present for 33 additional years in the lives of her family and friends.
She will be dearly missed by all who were loved and known by her. She is preceded in death by twin brothers who passed at birth; sisters, Elizabeth Palaka, Louise Keyes, Beverly Boen, and Mary Bukivec; and beloved grandson Jared Oddo. She is survived by her husband, Frederick; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Phil Aiuto, Jeanne and John Oddo, and Amy and Dan Drumgool; 12 dearly loved grandchildren and 14 precious great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Gale and Joan Conklin.
There will be a private celebration of her life for family and loved ones in a small chapel she chose at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood, Florida at 2 PM on Sunday, February 10th.
