Ruby Jewel Newton

Jewel was born April 10, 1928 in Mt. Pleasant, TN to Edgar and Lizzie Shelton Clifton. She was a retired seamstress for Lemar Shirt Factory and of the Methodist faith. Jewel loved spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, antiquing with her husband, going to yard sales, playing Rook, and working in her flowers. She was dedicated to watching every Atlanta Braves games on TV and it was her nightly ritual to watch Wheel of Fortune. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Newton, sons Roger, Randy and Michael, five siblings, and son-in-law Jackie Price.

Visitation will be 11-1pm Tuesday October 10, 2023 at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with Funeral to follow at 1pm. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Survivors include sons Ronald Newton of Pulaski, Stanley Newton and wife Donna of Birchwood, TN, daughters Linda Carr and husband Alton of Goodspring, Gail Luna of Pulaski, Wanda Tucker and husband Clifford of Leoma, Debbie Britt of Panama City Beach, brother Billy Joe Clifton of Pulaski, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
