He was born in Lawrence County, TN on June 9, 1927 to the late John Rick Rasley and Gracie McCafferty Burgess. His wife was the late Mable Ozell Garner Burgess. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Hattie Will Foust and his brother, Floyd Burgess.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Survivors include his sons, Terry Burgess of Columbia, TN and Steve Burgess of Pulaski, TN, his brothers, Kenneth Burgess of Michigan and Millard Burgess of Prospect, TN, his sister, Willa Frances Gatlin of Minor Hill, TN, his 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.
