Violet Ella Melton

Violet E. Melton, 81, affectionately known as “Cookie,” went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2015. Born March 13, 1934, to Louie and Elizabeth August in Walsen , Colorado. Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edgar “Fred” Melton, her parents, sister /brother in law Betty and Bob Hemphill, brother in law Bob Christensen, brother/sister in law Louis “Bud”/Ida Mae August, in-laws Hughie Ed and Ellen Melton, and brothers in law, Vernon and Jim Melton. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, Donna (Steve) Knezevich, Cheryl (Dave) Doherty, Kelvin (Jeannette) Melton, Kara Knezevich (Kevin), Kendall and Keely Miller, Amy (David) and Daxton Perez, Craig (Meara) Melton, Darren (Sheila) Doherty, Jay Doherty, and John Melton, sister Jean Christensen and sister in law, Delpha Melton, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Mom retired as a secretary from School District 60 in 1991. She enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling with both family and friends throughout the States as well as to many foreign countries. First and foremost was her love for her family. We’ll lovingly remember her for her knack of growing any lifeless plant to good health, her many family recipes, and her warm smile, twinkle in her eye, and heartfelt laughter. Mom was an active volunteer in Meals on Wheels and her Church. She enjoyed several hobbies, including bowling, crocheting, golfing, socializing, Red Hat Ladies, and her beloved Denver Broncos. A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 15, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 University Circle. The family would like to give special thanks for the loving care given to our Mother by Dr. Travis Archuleta, RMCC and Dorcy Cancer Center, Linda Jackson and Heritage Medical Group, and other physicians who aided in her care. The family respectfully requests the omission of food and flowers. Donations may be made in Mom’s name to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Meals on Wheels, and PAWs Animal Shelter.
