Theresa Rose Smith (Billie), our beloved wife and mother, was born March 13, 1922 and passed away October 19, 2010. She attended Pleasant View School through the 11th grade and many years later earned her G.E.D. certificate, as she spend the majority of her life in Pueblo.
Billie possessed the keen ability to define life’s goals and find a path to success, whether on a personal or professional level. One of Billie’s joys in life was sewing. Her business career included employment as a supervisor at Aspen Ski Wear, sewing fine garments. During many early years of her life, Billie could be found at the roller-skating rink with her kids, which brought her much excitement and provided them with her ever-present watchful eye. She was also a graceful swimmer. One of her proudest accomplishments was overcoming her fear of the water to become a lifeguard and dedicated instructor. At home she could be found in the yard gardening or in her aromatic kitchen cooking and baking, never tiring of preparing wonderful food for the enjoyment of family, friends and cherished pets who always awaited for a “dropped” tasty treat. Billie could also be found bowling, playing golf or shopping with her family and friends.
On September 20, 1944 she married John W. Smith, a U.S. Marine then serving our country. To this union two children were born, Valorie and Bruce. Her husband of 66 years; son Bruce Smith and wife Pauline of Placentia California; daughter Valorie Park and husband Robert of Butler Missouri survive Billie. There are five grandchildren, Heather, Rachel, Rob, Todd and Kandi and ten great grandchildren.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Mary Jane. Her family cannot fully express how very much she is loved and will be missed.
