Susan Delores Pomeroy Eckhart went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2024. She was 69 years old. She was born in Denver, Colorado on September 6th, 1954 to Pauline and Jake Pomeroy. Susan was well loved in her small town of Rocky Ford, Colorado. She was the mother of three children, grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of one. She cared deeply for her family, neighbors and friends. Susan was a devoted member of Rocky Ford Church of the Nazarene, and loved her job of over 20 years with the students at Washington Elementary School and Otero College.
Susan was a compassionate woman who loved caring for others. Her children were proud to call her Mom. She is survived by her son Keith Willis, Miles City, Montana, son Shawn Willis (Sylvia), DuPont, Washington, and daughter Michelle Willis (Jake), Laurel, Montana, nine grandchildren, Allysa, Dahlia, Ethan, Rylan, Nico, Serenity, Sophie, Haven and Hunter, a great granddaughter Luna, sister-in-law Tandra Garza and nephew Warren Pomeroy. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lance Pomeroy, and her niece Cimmaron Pomeroy Bulgier.
Some people only walk this earth for a little time. Although we will miss Susan, her departure reminds us that life is everlasting. John 11:25 says, “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believe in Me will live, even though they die.” John 14:1-2 tells us “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I was going there to prepare a place for you?”
A memorial service for Susan will be held at Rocky Ford Church of The Nazarene, 711 South 12th St. on February 1 at 6:30 pm. All are welcome to attend.
