Phyllis D. Carter Larson, 94, passed on May 7, 2019. She was born in Pueblo on May 29, 1924. She was predeceased by her husband Robert C. Larson and is survived by her children Gary (Suzie) Larson, Kathy (Phil) Ruegg, and Valerie Pierson; grandchildren Tia (Jason) Stakely, Tara (Logan) Reese, Erin (Matt) Rocco, and Jennifer (Ross) Rocha; great grandchildren Greg and Emma Rocco, Kaylee Rocha, and Max Stakely; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Phyllis loved gardening, playing cards, and her family. She attended services at St. Peter the Apostle Episcopal Church. She was a huge Bronco fan. After high school, she drove a motorcycle with a sidecar to deliver mail at the Pueblo Army Depot (until they politely told her to deliver mail from the bus after some close calls). She enjoyed swing dancing with live bands at the dances hosted by the Army in the 40s. She will be remembered for her fabulous sense of humor, for pretending she had not heard the off color jokes even as she laughed at them, and her kindness to friends and family.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Life Care Center of Pueblo and the Sangre de Christo Hospice, and the ladies of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, for their compassionate care, support and kindness.
Graveside services will be held Saturday May 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Imperial Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with a reception to follow on-site. Online condolences may be offered at www.tgmccarthy.com.
