Paul Gregory Vella, 63, passed away July 31, 2023, in Pueblo, Colorado. He was born in Pueblo on August 12, 1959, to Leo Anthony Vella and Judith Ann Pemberton. Paul graduated from Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado and earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He was a program manager for a large construction management firm, working on several major federal projects throughout the United States including hurricane relief in the south. His work within Colorado included projects at state correctional facilities, the Air Force Academy and Red Rocks Amphitheater.
He was a longtime member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Wyoming Steer Roping Association. He enjoyed his horses, competitive roping, bird hunting, fly fishing and deep-sea fishing. He will be remembered for his keen intelligence, quick wit, broad range of knowledge, amazing memory, heightened sense of entitlement, and never being on time. He is survived by his long-time partner, Cheri Van Orden, brother Kent Vella of Oro Valley, Arizona, sister Michelle Greer (Bob) and nieces Alexandra and Francesca Greer of Oro Valley, Aunt Cindy Pemberton Miller (Don) of Rye, Colorado, and Aunt Kitty Pemberton Jordan of Portland, Oregon, as well as numerous cousins across many states.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00pm on October 7, 2023 at the Miller residence, west of Rye, Colorado.
