years later. At the age of twelve, his father died, leaving him to care for his brother amongst the angst and abuse that followed in his childhood. At the age of 20, Paul joined the United States Army as a combat engineer, finishing this career in company B (Bravo) 12th Engineer Battalion 8th ID (infantry division) MECH (mechanized corps) in 1988. While stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, in 1984, Paul met Lorraine at the local bowling alley. Unplanned pregnancy from this chance encounter led to their marriage in March of 1985, and their first daughter, Brandi, in June that same year. He and his new family was moved and stationed in Germany until 1988, coming back to the United States with additions of son Paul and daughter Heather. The young family lived in Bloomington, Indiana until 1991, Paul working various jobs, and then moved his family to Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1994, his second son, Thomas, was born, the first home was purchased, as Paul worked as a mechanic for a few local garages, pizza delivery in the evening, and worked on machines at a plastic factory. As the eldest daughter finished her senior year in high school in 2003, another son, James, was born, followed by, Daniel, in 2005. Paul began working at Knob Hill Towing in 2004 and went into early retirement in 2016. Paul had a full life while pushing through congestive heart failure leading to open heart surgery, Hashimoto's disease, a thyroid
autoimmune disorder, and diabetes, leading to renal failure and the need for dialysis. He wasn’t one to ever say he was in pain or sick; always working and supporting his family in all their pursuits. In 2018, Paul survived six major strokes, leading to vascular dementia and placed under special care by his wife Lorraine. On Christmas evening 2021, Paul experienced a minor stroke due to sepsis, leading to a week in the care of a hospital, where his family decided to move him to hospice care and end the dialysis that was no longer able to keep up in removal of toxins. In the late hours of January 4th, Paul experienced
another stroke, and was called by his Heavenly Father to return to his side. Paul was known for his love of his family, compassion in helping, his big bear demeanor, and a tender heart. He always found laughter as the best tool to work through all emotions. He enjoyed NASCAR, football, driving in the demolition derby,
music trivia, singing karaoke, playing board/card games, and just spending time with his family. All six children, eleven grandchildren, and his wife of 36 years will always remember his laughter, strength, love, and in all the things, his uniqueness and individuality.
