Olivia Theresa Medina, 84, passed away Oct. 1, 2017 peacefully at home in her sleep. Olivia was born March 21, 1933, in Walsenburg, Co to Manuel and Mary Duran. She grew up in Pueblo, Colorado and attended local schools. Olivia married Gilbert J Medina on June 13, 1953 in Pueblo. They were married for 64 years.
Survivors also include her husband, Gilbert J Medina, five children: Linda (David) Smith, Diana (Jill) Medina, Patricia (Randolph) Chavez, Gilbert (Theresa) Medina, and Larry (Laura) Medina; nine grandchildren: Joseph Jaramillo, Amber (Jason) Jennings, Joanna (Jonathan) Hoff, Christina (George) Garcia, Angelica Chavez, Randy Chavez, Jessica (Albert) Retana, Erika Medina, and Andrew Medina; eight great-grandchildren: Jarred Medina, Sterling Schaffner, Paityn Hoff, Jasmine Jennings, James Martinez, Colin Hoff, Hunter Hoff, and Joshua Jennings; one brother: Daniel Duran; one sister: Eugenia Gallegos; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
Olivia was preceded in death by her father, Manuel; mother, Mary; daughter Sandra; and sisters Martha Radcliff and Elsie Montoya.
Olivia was a lifelong resident of Pueblo. In addition to being the mother of 6 children she was a teacher’s aide for the Head Start Program. Olivia loved traveling throughout the country and around the world with her husband and family. She loved to socialize, read, garden, cook, and travel. Olivia had a wonderful sense of humor and her humor was especially evident when she told stories to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on 2:00 pm, Oct. 7, 2017 at Imperial Funeral Home at 5450 Hwy 78, Pueblo, CO 81005 with Bobby Aragon officiating.
